Emborough School
« on: Thursday 27 June 13 16:09 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me if Emborough had a school  around 1900-1911 or would the children have to go to another village and if it did is there any chance that any pupil records were kept or school photos. Most schools seemed to do a photo once a year with all the pupils or by class if the school was large.
My grandmother was born and lived in Emborough, her name was Elsie Sparey. We have never seen a photo of her before the age of 26 and it is a thought that there maybe be a school photo, not that we would really know what she looked like. It is worth a try.

There was no school in Emborough. The children attended the school in the adjoining parish of Binegar & Ston Easton. (Kelly's Directory of Somerset, 1902)

Binegar Primary School closed with effect from December 31, 2011. There is a photograph of the school at http://goo.gl/maps/OXENs

Thanks for the information.
I noted that the Rev A F Martin Langley Vicar of Binegar in 1962 had made a history of the school as it was celebrating its 100 years.  Do you know what form this history took, eg book leaflet etc.

If you look at the Binegar Parish Council web site there is a very brief history of the school at Binegar. This was prepared some time ago by the local Womens' Institute.
