Hi,wondering if anyone researching Rhinds Family from Baff has a Helen and Isabella. I have a copy of the 1841 census, Sandy Hill Road, Banff, with Helen 70 born Banff Isabella 30 born banff and George Cumming 15 born Banff. thanks.

Bear in mind that when it comes to birthplace, the question asked in 1841 was, "Born in this county?" and possible answers were Y for yes, N for No, E for England, I for Ireland, W for wales and F for foreign.

So in whatever transcription you are using, what it actually says is not 'Banff' but 'Y', and what it means is County of Banff a.k.a. Banffshire, not just the town and parish of Banff.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
