Thirsk marriage lookup thank you
« on: Sunday 14 July 13 02:20 BST (UK) »
Hello
I have been told that my 3xgg parents married 1815 Thirsk.  They were William COOK and Jane HERBERT.  I have searched the LDS but I can't find anything, though I am probably doing something wrong  :-\

Jane was from Wakefield and William from Thirsk.
Thanks any assistance

Hi Bonnie  :)

The only info about the marriage that I can see on the IGI is a patron submission (tree):

Thirsk 25 Feb 1815

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.2.1/MJTF-JSP

According to Genuki, the Thirsk marriages 1556 -1836 are on the IGI -

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/Misc/CBW/NRY/Thirsk.html

-  so I'm not sure from where the person who submitted the tree got the info.

The Joiner marriage index -

http://joinermarriageindex.co.uk/parishsearch.php?county=nry&code=tc

 -    doesn't seem to show anything for them either  :-\
See below - it shows the marriage  :D

Thanks TRISH for info.  That is excellent and it matches exactly what I had found too but I wanted to be sure that I had the right Jane Herbert. I had found her (and hubby till 1861) on census 1841-1881 and her place of birth and age matches up on all, as does his.  Jane died 5 days after C1881 taken and William in 1865.

Thanks Gadget - I haven't heard of the Joiner index before, much appreciated.

My next step is to find William COOK's parents.  On IGI there is a baptism 21 May 1793 at Thirsk - parents William & Elizabeth and a marriage of a William COOK and a Elizabeth SIMONSON in 1792 but when I use The Joiner Marriage Index, nothing comes up

Thanks again - Bonnie
