Petty Sessions.1886

Can some one please tell me if Paddock Co Laois  [Queens] where I have found a court hearing dated 8th March 1886,could be any where near any army camp at that time.Person concerned was a serving soldier.
Also 22/04/1886 Mountrath,which presume is same place.Was there a jail there.

Paddock is a small place outside Mountrath and in the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains.

Maryborough would have been the 'Gaol' (and still is) and I have never heard of a Gaol in Mountrath, nor an army barracks

Jack thanks for that.This Royal Engineers QMS Sergt newly married for second time,was apprehended by military police and ended up at Mountrath Petty Sessions court 22 April 1886.He drowned next year Dec 1887,Cork, his new wife settled after his death initially in Laois.
Had never heard of Paddock, and very little info on it anywhere on line.
The court ref,I found on FindMyPast Irish Institutions and organisations.
