Any Kearney relations out there
« on: Sunday 12 June 05 22:22 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out if I have any relations who come from Kearneys. My grandmother was a Teresa Kearney who came over here to Scotland and married my grandfather James Kennedy in Airdrie 1907. Have been trying to do some research, as my dear dad nver seemed to know anything of his family. His dad died when he was young and then he was orphaned on his 11th birthday when  my grandmother Teresa died, so I think having such a tragic life after that he just seemed to blot everything out and could never tell us anything about any family etc. I think Teresa came from Armagh and was born in 1882 to Patrick and Mary Ann Kearney(Lynch). She may have had a brother Francis born in Armagh 27th June 1869 and a sister Mary Born Aug 1871, don't know if there were any more siblings. Can anyone help me with any little bit of info. Many thanks.

I'm a little bit stuck on my Kearney relatives, but My gGrandmother was a Jane Kearney b: 1840 Tandragee, Armagh.  d: 31.10.1898 East Calder, Scotland.  She married James Mulholland in Oct 1857.

Her father is Henry Kearney, mother Elizabeth Wilson.

Thanks so much for the reply.

May I ask where the information source comes from?  I now have three dates (unconfirmed), on LDS Oct 1855, from another source Oct 1857, and yours.

Also, what does COFI stand for (Church of Ireland?).

Best
Sandy

I am hoping you are still looking... I realise your last message was a few years ago.
I am wondering if you have any more information on the children of James Mulholland and Jane Kearney? I have 3 chn for them: Eliza b 1864; Nancy 1869; Catherine 1866.
I think this Eliza may be my great grandmother but need some evidence. If this is the right Eliza Mulholland, she returned to Ireland and married Samuel Cunningham. Do you have anymore information about the family?
Look forward to hearing form you.
Alison

Dear Sandy,
Thanks for the reply. I have found another daughter for this couple in Family Search:
Eliza Mulholland
born 9 May 1864 Aghalee, Co. Antrim (page 723 in civil register)
parents- James Mulholland & Jane Kearney

My great grandmother was Eliza Mulholland . All I know is that this date is about correct and my GG grandfather was JAmes. My Eliza married Samuel Cunningham in Ballymena. If these 2 Elizas are the same person, then she would have had to returned to Ireland, I saw somewhere that your Mulhollands went to Scotland. This is the only Eliza Mulholland I have found in the right time, place, religion and with a father JAmes. I would love to hear what you think.
