Armagh BMD records
« on: Friday 02 August 13 13:31 BST (UK) »
Any tips on me tracing anything at all in the Irish records for the family of an Elsie Winifred MURPHY, born circa 1903 in Armagh? I'm new to Irish research, but am aware of the situation with regard to the census returns prior to 1901.

Thanks.

The online Irish civil registration index covers birth in Northern Ireland counties 1864 (the start) until 1921 (until 1958 for the Republic).

Are you sure she was born in Armagh? There's this one in Omagh district-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The Ancestry website has a tree including an Elsie Winifred Murphy born May 1902 in County Tyrone (which would tie in with the previously mentioned civil reg. record), daughter of Thomas John Murphy and Eleanor Beatrice Dimmack, living in Colchester Essex in 1911.

Usual health warning applies over the accuracy of such a source.

Thanks for that; food for thought indeed! As far as I've been told, she was born in Armagh, but I seem to remember Enniskillen being mentioned too.........which probably muddies the waters even further!
