Eades Family New Zealand (Wanganui): Tracing Mavis Joyce Eades COMPLETED

Hi,

I'm having a lot of trouble finding information regarding my Grandfather (Francis (Frank) John Eades (1916 - 2005)) sister Mavis Joyce Eades. She is one of nine children and the youngest daughter of George William Campbell Eades (1886 - 1971) m. May Lucy Robinson (1889-1974) and was born in Wanganui, NZ. I know she moved to the South Island, NZ (possibly the Nelson area) but other than that I have no further details.

Date of Death   28 Jan 2009

The death index has her date of birth which might help confirm if she is infact your Mavis.

Hi Giblet,

I don't think this is the Mavis Joyce (Eades) I'm looking for. Pretty sure she did not die in Wanganui, unlike the majority of the rest of her siblings. I'm not sure of her DOB but it has to be after 1921 and before 1927 as she was the second youngest of nine children (and I know all of their DOB's). Thanks anyway... most of the research I've done to date has been based on long shots

Long shots sometimes pay off so it was worth a try 

I found the below link where you can purchase her obituary as well, i was on a roll with this Mavis just a shame it wasnt the right one

New Zealand archives has a will/probate for May Lucy. It might have Mavis in it and note her married name if she married.

I've been able to discount the above Mavis Joyce Heather HAWKINS.   Her maiden surname was not EADES.

We do though need to treat these "forward" searches for people, with great caution, as there's  a possibility that your lady is still living.

Whilst I've found a marriage for (what I think is) Mavis (late '40's) - and the probable husband residing in the Wanganui area for a good many years, - there is no sign of Mavis on electoral rolls using her married name.  [It's possible that the marriage was shortlived ?  There doesn't appear to be a divorce record either.]

Will continue looking.
