There 2 births in wolvo  viatricia which you've mentioned but there's also a Antonio lanni born injune quart 1888. Viatricia lanni was born dec quart 1893. They don't even come on the census particular viatricia if you just put her first name and birth year and place of birth for the 1901.

It was the group in 1881 in Oxford but I haven't seen mentioned a group with no names in Oxford in 1891.....what does the Oxford 1891 census say?

There may be some attestations at the oxford county archives, witness statements which go with case. You've got the date now and you could ask. They would charge for any copies but just checking their catalogue they should n't. You could see if anyone on the oxford board would be prepared to do a look up. Also newspaper/journal account mentioned there may be more than one newspaper that carried an account.

I take it you have seen the tree online called Washington family tree with pictures of tomasso and Francesco and there is an article entitled lanni's story. I think that's where the Worcester icecream bit came from.

Thanks rosie99 for info about the Marlborough Arms......that will on my visiting list for the near future.
and yes waste I have recently made contact with the owner of the Washington tree on ancestry but I'm really interested in the grey period before Francesco Lanni set up his ice-cream business in Worcester. The time he and his father roamed the Midlands as Organ grinders. Trouble is, when you start these family researches I seem to be drawn off down other avenues and get the urge to go into more of the social and commercial history of the times. Still, I guess that's what makes research so interesting.  :)
