Hi, I have a hunch it could be the Seaforth Highlanders, but could be wrong.

Hi, Looking around it does look like the stags head of the Seaforth Highlanders badge but there is no scroll underneath, I wonder if it was made as a "Sweetheart Badge".

Hi, it could be a plaid pin or for the kilt when in full dress.
see link:-

Added......The link gives a date for the photograph of 1816 to 1913.

Im not sure where your supposed to wear this badge...be it on the kilt or hat...even scarf, however have seen one exactly the same and was given as a gift in 1931 (i hope this isn't too unhelpful)

i don't think it's a the  highlanders cap badge however there is a similarity

I think this is a Cabar Feidh badge, worn by Mackenzie's with kilts.  ;D
