Francis Hilliard Kitchener Lodge (D Jun. 18, 1944)

Hi there

I'm trying to find out more about my wife's Grandfather who died during WW2.

He has an unusual name so you would think I could find something but I can only find his grave:

I know his RAF service number:
Casualty of WWII, Francis was a Leading Aircraftman in the
Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve; Service No: 1444102

He died before my wife's Mother was born so nobody knows much about him.

If anybody can help suggest where I should be looking for more information I'd be very grateful.

My wife's Grandmother was from Bristol so I'm sure that this is the marriage - her name was Olive.

Any idea how I can find out how he died? I've printed the forms for the MOD info request.

Hi,

There are both public and private online trees on Ancestry. Some also show 3 children (1937, 1939,1942).

Copy of his death certificate (£9.25 from GRO if ordered online) should show cause of death.
