CAVANNA (Varients)
« on: Sunday 11 August 13 12:49 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am need of some help. I am collating the WW1 War Memorial in St Asaph Cathedral. There is a Louse CAVANNA (C1882) who is listed and he has gone AWOL.
In 1891 he is named as Louis Francis, with his parents Lewis and Ann at Llanllechid. 1901 I think I have him as Louis Kavanagh at Cefn as a cattleman. 1915 at Hawarden a Louis Cavanna died aged 32.  In the 1901 and  1911 his mother who was widowed in 1897 can not be found nor his brother John. Louis, after 1901, no sign of him, I have checked the CWGC,  and military sites on Ancestry, all negative. Any one related who may be able to help.

Hi William

Yes, I noticed that one, but they appear to have the same problem. I looked for him serving with the RASC, but he still did not appear.

Thanks for your help.

Regards
Alf

If he is actually named  on the memorial , could he have been injured , and brought home where he died in 1915 ? Or even a civilian casualty.
There may be something in the newspapers , I have seen death notices for local men who died  in the Wrexham Advertiser.

Deaths Sep 1915
Cavanna  Louis  32  Hawarden

Was the information on names on War Memorials supplied by the families,

Well the info on the War Memorials on the Clwyd FHS website has been collected in much the same fashion as we would search for our relatives!

The person who collected the info had no special access to records.

Right. I see. So CFHS just used census records etc to find these details.  :)
