Have you considered buying the Northants baptism index CD 1751-1812

http://www.familyhistorynorthants.co.uk/baptismindex1751-1812.html

As Thomas Wright is a very common name in Northamptonshire - as I am sure your are findind

Yes, I have, and I have mentioned it tonight to the person whose family we are seeking.
However, I have just been sent the appropriate marriages in the 1790-1800 period,
and I will look closely at those.

Thank you so much for that list of marriages. It seems that CLERK and EMERY are the only
two that fit, bearing in mind the first child came by 1795. I will look closely at those.
Much appreciated.

Thank you again for sending the Thomas and Hannah marriages. I am now wondering if you
would kindly look at the marriage in 1830 at Harleston of the son Samuel to Mary Goldby as that may well give useful information however slender. It may confirm the mother was deceased but the
father Thomas was alive. It may also give some information on the father, and the names of the
two witnesses.
Thanks again,
Alex

From the marriage index
Not much info was recorded in the marriage register (it would be in the index)
Everything except witnesses and the minister are included.

Samuel   WRIGHT   of Kingsthorpe   Mary   GOLDBY   otp   1830   26-Oct at Harlestone

I don't have access to the parish register so cannot look for the witnesses

Did you mean it would be in the register? Above you wrote: (it would be in the index)
I was informed elsewhere that Hannah Wright was a witness at Samuel's marriage at Harleston. That must be his sister as his mother Hannah died in 1827. Do you know if an 1830 marriage
in the register would give details of the parents?

The information that was in the register was all trancribed into the index - except for the names of the minister and witnesses.

It is very rare to find parents mentioned before 1837, once in a while when a minor (under 21) is married it will say 'with consent of her/his father John Smith'

Here is an example from 1806 in Spratton
William   LANGLEY   of Scaldwell Widower   Mary   PEARSON   otp spinster (with consent of her father Martin Pearson)

Thanks. That suggests to me limited value. Where it is useful is giving information
on the place of marriage and the parishes to which they belong.
Still working on the most likely Hannah: Clerk, Emery or Goode?
It is possible that Thomas or Hannah or both came from beyond the county boundary!

Hey how is the search going. I am looking at Wright but in the next county. There is a clan of wright in stoke goldington so not that far away from your lot. Certainly some of my ancesters certainly went to Northampton.
