Searching for father of Mary Patricia Wake, born c1923

Agnes Veronica Wake went from England to NZ in 1922, arriving in February 1922. She went to NZ to work in Lyttelton, or area. She gave birth to a daughter, Mary Patricia, in either 1923 or 24. I am trying to discover the name of Mary's father. Veronica later married a man named Shields. If anyone can help, I shall be grateful.

The first thing that springs to mind is ordering the print out of Mary's birth.  There is no guarantee that the father will be listed though.

Is Mary the same that married in NSW, AU?  If so she used the SHIELDS surname.  Do you have the marriage certificate to see who was put on it as the father?
