Civil Registration, and therefore registration districts, only came into being on 1st July 1837.

Before that you will need parish registers.

A list of North Riding registration districts are here: http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/nry.html

Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

yes of course,   so the parishes will retain the info ?it wont be absorbed into the new areas ?so to clarify i just contact the relevant parish or ask for  help giving the relevant parish to the searcher or even local history groups in the district the old parish originally existed   ??  BB

Can you explain what it is you are after?

If you go to GenUKI, Yorkshire pages http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/NRY/
And then find the town or parish you are interested in, there is usually a link, or description, of where to find the registers.

Probably North Yorkshire Record Office?

You could also search on FreeReg or FamilySearch?

The simple answer is no because county boundaries change over the years.  You would be better served going to genuki.com and looking the parish up, then look at where the archives for that parish are held.  This is imperative for Lancashire because the county archives dont hold that many of the parish records for example Liverpool hold their own.

Hi BB,
I've helped you a bit before :)

Just for your information, some of your records were found on Family Search  https://familysearch.org/ so it is always worthwhile looking there.
There are also resources listed on here for the various counties. Here is the page for North Riding
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?board=362.0
The resources are varied but you may strike lucky  :)
As you say also, there are also willing people here.  :)
Regards
Heywood
