William Bradley - Dungiven
« on: Sunday 18 August 13 10:09 BST (UK) »
Hi, looking for information about William Bradley, born around 1776, Dungiven.  He enlisted in 64th foot February 1800 until 1817 - spending over 12 years in West Indies.  I believe he came back to NI and married Mary (maiden name not known & dob ranges from 1782 - 1790 depending on source) between 1817 and 1820.  I know of five children born to the couple - Thomas (1820), Jane (1824), Elizabeth and William (1827) and John (1831) - all birth dates are approx and in Ireland.  The family are found in Stranraer, Scotland 1841 census.  I have death certificates for both William and Mary however their parents names are unknown and not entered.
William was buried in United Presbytery cemetery so likely to be Protestant, if that helps.
Cheers
Reeni  ;)

Welcome to Rootschat but the Bradley family Reeni1 is looking for came from County Londonderry (as far as you could get from County Cork and still be in Ireland).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Reeni,

I am the great-great-great-grandson of William Bradley through his other son Joseph (born 1821) and I have a bunch of material on him and his wife Mary who appears to have been Portuguese by birth. Mary's maiden name is a bit of a conundrum as I have about 5 variants of it ranging from Ricorina to Racaveniz. I have tried finding birth records from Dungiven for William Bradley but his birth seems to predate the birth records by a couple of years. If you e-mail me on jerry_bradley@hotmail.com then maybe we can compare notes.
