Information for after 1911 census
« on: Tuesday 20 August 13 13:00 BST (UK) »
Hi
being comparatively new to tracing ancestors I know this is a pretty basic question but can anyone advise me on whether or not you can trace what your family were doing after the 1911 census? I have access to Ancestry web site. The family would be in Lincoln and Canwick village and some in Branston
 Many thanks
Penny

Things you can use are -
Birth/marriage/death certs, to see addresses at various points in their lives
Wills
Electoral rolls - often fiddly to look through!
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

thank you both. Where's the best place to access electoral rolls if I don't live locally to visit the library?

I understand some London ones are online on Ancestry.
Otherwise it is usually a case of visiting a library or Local Record Office.
What part of the country are you wanting? Someone local might know if any are online, but generally they arent.

Look on Ancestry (if you go to search and then Schools, Directories and Church Histories Records, there are lots of individual directories listed but none for Lincolnshire.  However, you can do a search under British Phone Books, and UK, City and County Directories so you may find something of interest.

@lizdb. Yes the London ones are on Ancestry but I need Lincolnshire - mostly Lincoln itself. Unfortunately I'm in Bedfordshire.

I'll try the phone books.

Ah well, not long til the 1921 census is available - lol. Fingers crossed I'll still be around

Thanks everyone

Penny
