Hi  Is it possible to be able to find out about an article in the Nottingham Evening post. There was a quarrel between Sidney And Thomas James both Richards. Is there an archives at Nottingham and can you view newspapers there. I seem to think that these Richards will have been in trouble several times. Regards swingtime

Hi Swingtime,

Nottingham family History Dept at the Library on Angle Row hold the newspaper archive, you can view them all there for yourself, but if you know the date the librarians are very helpful, and might do a look up for you!

Swingtime, I have checked the Nottinghamshire Guardian for you, nothing coming up, concerning an argument of the brothers.Only item coming up under Thomas Richards
March 21st 1879
MORE DRUNKARDS-James Bullimore was charged by PC Langford with being drunk on Bunkers Hill. Thomas Richards, pie shop keeper, stated that the prisoner was so drunk that he fell through his window.

I can search the newspaper's via my library, online at home. I just put in my card number.

May be worth checking if your library does this, it certainly makes life easier, and its FREE  :)

Ok found another one by searching "Richards pie"
Nov 16th 1877
ASSAULT- George Tims, a young man was charged with assaulting Mr Richards, pie house keeper, Bunkers Hill on the 2nd inst. Mr Belk appeared for the complainant and Mr Whittingham for the defendant. Complainant said that on the night in question defendant came into his shop and became very quarrelsome. Upon this complainant ordered him to go out. Defendant then commenced to use very bad language, saying that if he would come out of his shop he would take complainants life. Complainant then sent for a policeman, and defendant went away, but in a short time he returned, and kicked complainant very violently in the abdomen. Thomas Richard , complainants son, having corraborated, defendant was fined 40s or in default one months imprisonment.

There are 4788 hits on the Nottinghamshire Guardian for "Richards" Sorry not got the time to go through all of those!
