Do you have y.o.b. for either John William or Olive|?

That would make death reg easier to find and more likely to be correct

there is this death reg
Olive Ford
born 24 feb 1908
death reg Jun qtr 1982
age 74
Cleveland reg dist
2 2180

which would tie in with this birth reg
Olive Morgan
Mar qtr 1908
Durham reg dist
10a 473

there is a death reg
#John William Ford
born 10 May 1899
death reg Frb 1984
age 84
Durham Central 1 1209

this would fit with a birth reg
John William Ford
Jun qtr 1899
Durham reg dist
10a 457

How do John William and Olive fit into your tree? do you know of any siblings and their y.o.b?

The problem here is that James William Ford and Olive Morgan are actually quite common names and so it would be very easy to pick up the wrong one. For instance I can not easily say which is the correct death for James William Ford.

I would suggest as a way forward it would be a good idea to get the marriage certificate described in reply #1 as that would give the names of the fathers of the two and their occupations that should help to find the correct births.

The marriage certificate can be ordered from the GRO for £9.25

www.gro.gov.uk

once you have the information from the marriage certificate people should be able to give you more definitive help
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

I quite agree with davidft
Marriage cert should give age and father's name and so would make the death reg more certain

Apologies for John William Ford - I previously had been looking up a different John William!!!!

There is this death reg (which is after Olive's -but is in similar area)

James William Ford
born 13 Oct 1909
death reg Aug 1987
age 77
C Cleveland
3 1936

These may/may not be the correct couple.

I asked if you knew of any siblings (are any of their siblings a direct line?) as they may make it easier to track a y.o.b. for Olive and James William
