Do you have that 1882 Dover marriage cert?

What exactly does it say on it,addresses, father's name, jobs, witnesses names ages etc.

Funny that she went up to Scotland soon after marriage, was hubby Scottish?

Hi

There is a Thomas Anderson 19 Ireland Stoker2c on the vessel "HMS Pembroke"

Medway Rochester [ Chatham ] Pembroke
RG11 889 Piece: 889 Folio: 44 Page: 73

Although the Glasgow 1891 entry says that Thomas is 39

Mary Ann Roston
b. circa 1861 England

Possible birth regs

Either-

Jan/feb/mar 1858
Manchester ref  8d 302
Mary Ann Roston

Or

jan/feb/mar 1861
Dover ref 2a ?
Mary Jane Roston

Second one is closer date wise, and possibly a more probable location, but has the wrong middle name!

Later censuses show the Manchester one to be dtr of a John and Mary
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi thank you for the replies.

Mary's Scottish death record gives her mother's name, Catherine Hetherington.

Sorry, I don't have the 1882 Dover marriage certificate.

Yes, her husband Thomas Anderson is Scottish, was born in Airdrie circa 1852. He was an Iron Moulder.

Yes, that's the dau. Catherine Anderson b.1883 Dover on the index.

Of course the death cert will only have the info that the informant gave,it is not always correct.
Is her mothers surname really clear? I know people often have trouble with the writing on the Scottish certs.

We are not seeing any records in England for a marriage of a Catherine Hetherington to a Roston.
Nor have I found any army records for Peter.

You may have to purchase the marriage cert to confirm a few things. £9-25 from the GRO.

Her surname is pretty clear apart from the first letter H which makes it look like Netherington.
Looks like the family moved up to Scotland sometime between 1883 and 1889.
