« on: Wednesday 18 September 13 20:27 BST (UK) »
I didn't have time to pursue this but apparently the records are now online.

I guess this is old news but it was news to me, as I hadn't researched in this area for a while.

go to deceasedonline, be careful though as the burial location maybe incomplete, if you visit make you go th e office to chack the location of the grave-other than that the site will have a record.

what name were you looking for?
Bradford-Sussex, Surrey
McGinlay-Donegal,Glasgow
Howatson-Dalkeith,London
Jamieson-Londonderry,Partick
Key/McKee/Kee-Londonderry

Thanks for the tip.  I won't be going to the cemetery any time soon as I am on the other side of the ocean, and I  notice the cemetery  tells you to DRIVE there, no less!  I will never be doing that.
I did check the site and found quite a few of my people there, although with some of them I can't be sure if it's the right person without paying for documentation as the names are too common.  Still, it's cheaper than buying a death cert!
There are a number of names involved.  I won't list them here as it would be a lot of work.  So far, they all appear to be in common graves, as evidenced by the large number of people sharing the grave, and I don't anticipate any markers, just wanted to know where they were and to use this to confirm possible deaths.  In some cases the site provides a death date, which is a bonus.
I strongly suspect, however, that not all burials are listed online.  Perhaps they have lost some records, not sure.

Thanks for this have a lot of ancestors around that area. I too have not paid for any certificates yet, as I want to do what I can before I pay for anything  :)

If you do find an entry on Deceased Online, you can always approach the cemetery directly and ask for more help. They are more likely to do a free look-up if you have the full name and date of death or burial to hand and you explain you are from across the pond.

The brief newspaper report of the accident states that he was from Harpenden, have you checked there for a burial.  (The Times  Friday, Dec 09, 1938 )

Many thanks.  I know that he lived in Harpenden - but what did the newspaper report say?  I believe that he tried to commit suicide....
