Marriage look-up request for Ballyshannon, Donegal 1830
« on: Friday 20 September 13 15:16 BST (UK) »
Any help would be most appreciated. My GreatGreat Grandfather was Doctor John Britton and he married Mary Chinnery Folingsby 22 May 1830 in Ballyshannon. Their daughter Ellen Chinnery Britton married John Le Gros abt 1861 and they raised their family in St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands.

I have managed to trace the Le Gros origins back to sixteenth century as they lived in Jersey for some 300 years or more and the Chinnery side of the family goes back to the early 1700s prior to which they came from England, but the Britton connection is sorely lacking in information. I don't know where or when he was born or died or from which were his origins - all I have is his marriage details from a newspaper report published in a Donegal website for St Annes Church. IF it is at all possible that his marriage license or marriage could be viewed to see if any other persons are named in the record or any other information given abt age I would be most grateful.

You haven't mentioned what denomination the church was but almost all surviving church records from that date give little detail- usually bride, groom, date and possibly clergyman.
