MSN problem SORTED

Going crazy with MSN. It is asking for my password for security and also asking to send me a verification code. I didn't even know I had a password for msn . Do they mean my hotmail password. Sorry this is a bit confusing but I don't know what to do. I have only 3 or 4 days left before I am locked out. I've looked at helpline but it's asking for my password or for me to e-mail them!!!!
Using google chrome at the minute as I can no longer use IE8. I'm not very good with technology and this is scaring me.
Would appreciate any advice.

PS  A friend popped in and managed to help so I can stop worrying now.
