parish records for Ringwood, Hampshire
« on: Saturday 28 September 13 21:38 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
hi all, i have 1841 census for charles russell although spelt russel born hampshire about 1821, living with a family as what was probably a servant, he was the same in the 1851 and 1861 census.  In later census it has his birth place as Ringwood.  I would very much like to find his parentage, I know his father was called John, from charles's marriage cert, can anyone help with a lookup for me, I would be so greatful.  I would like to try and find his mothers names, and also brothers and sisters if he had them.

Regards
Davies,Morgan,Bates,Millard,Drury,Briscoe,Russell,Matthews,Carleton,Carr.

Hampshire online parish clerks ( http://familyhistorydirectory.com/hampshire-online-parish-clerk/) have Ibsley burials for 1812 to 1987 and the only ones I can find are:
Catherine Russell of Mockbeggar bur 05/03/1850 age 64
Susan Russell of Mockbeggar bur 26/05/1857 age 59
John Russel of Mockbeggar bur 04/03/1860 age 69
No burial for Martha Russell

Census which seem to correspond are:
1841 at Mockbeggar
John Russell 45 Labourer born in county
Catherine Russell 55 not born in county

1851 at Mockbeggar
John Russell head widower 60 Ag Lab born Ibsley, Hampshire
Susanna Pike Housekeeper 49 b. Wilsford, Wiltshire (can't read her status)

John Russell married Susanna Pike in Apr-May-Jun 1851 Ringwood district Vol 8 page 361

It is possible that John married Martha first but I can't find anything online.

There are two other baptisms at Ibsley:
19 Feb 1815 - Emma d/o Martha Russell
12 Apr 1818 - Elizabeth d/o John & Catharine Russell

So it is possible that John was married to Catherine by 1818 - could the vicar have mixed up Martha and Catherine and put down the wrong mother for Charles? I've not been very helpful but the above may help in the future if any more info comes to light.
Edwards - Cheshire/Denbighshire
Dale, Lloyd, Potts, Vaughan - Cheshire
Humpherson - Shropshire
Ludlam - Yorkshire/Lancashire
Beasley - Buckinghamshire
Dick, Laird, Lambie, McInnes, McKechnie, Robertson, Semple - Lanark/Renfrew
Jordan - Drogheda
Maddison, Thirlwell, Nevin- Co. Durham/Northumberland
Walker - Yorkshire/Notts;
Jackson - Westmorland

Charles is the only child of John and Martha that is showing up.

However, there are a couple of ones that may be worth noting:
James s/o James and Martha Russell @ Martin (nr Fordingbridge - couple said to be "of Ringwood") May 1814 (but son was age 5 at the time)
Ann d/o James and Martha Russell @ Ringwood Aug 1815
Emma d/o Martha @ Ibsley Feb 1815

James Russell (widower) and Martha Hoskins were married @ Ringwood Dec 1805
Martha Russell married a James Crosby @ Ellingham Oct 1819

ADDED:
James and Martha are on the 1841 census @ Ringwood and 1851 @ Christchurch
