1891 census look up
« on: Tuesday 01 October 13 00:33 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find a William John Muston on the 1891 census, aged approx. 14
He was born in Dorset in 1877/1878
His father who has the same name, died about the time he was born in Dorset.
I have William with his family in 1881 in Salisbury, Wiltshire. He is on the 1901 census in Hampshire with his wife Emma & family. He died in 1907 and married in Portsea in 1893
Any help appreciated.

His older siblings are Albert, Fanny & Annie they are all married and living in Warrington Lancs by 1891 Mother's name is Eliza, I'm not sure if she has stayed in the south of the UK, it's unknown what happened to her. William and his siblings were easy to find except for him on the 1891 census.

Hello,
Is the C1881 you refer to piece 2072 folio 12 page 18 ?
MUSTON
Eliza, 45, widow, occ: Needlewoman, born Dorset
Fanny, daughter, 12
Anna M., daughter, 10
William J., son, 3, born Salisbury, Wiltshire ? not Dorset

and C1901 piece 1004 folio 106 page 31
shows William J. aged 28 born Portsmouth, Hamp., with wife Emma S. and sons William E. and Leonard J.

Seems a bit odd, if I am looking at right census, that his place of birth differ  ???
