Hi snmorgan and welcome here,

I don't know if you already have it but this seems to be the 1901 Census entry:

RG13/5022

Town: Bargoed
(Registration District Merthyr Tydfil)
Cartess? Cross Street

Eliza E, wife, 31, b. Montgomery Llanidloes (?)
Vernon E J, son, 6, b. Glam Quakers Yard (?)
Eleanor Sevenoaks, mother-in-law, wid, 52, b. Montgomery Coombellan (?)

Hi snmorgan,

Welcome to Rootschat.

I think this is maybe Eliza E (Eliza Emma?) at school in 1881 (found at http://www.familysearch.org)

Emma SEVENOAKS   Boarder      Female      age 11      Llaniddoes, Montgomery, Wales     Scholar
"Ladies School" 9 U Park St Clifton, Gloucester, England
RG11   piece 2481  f 97 page 39

as Sevenoaks seems to be quite an uncommon surname in Wales.

Her mother Eleanor seems to be at her brothers house in 1881:
at 23 Church Rd. Ystradyfodwg, Glamorgan, Wales are:
David HOLMES   Head  U     Male   30   Llanidloes, Montgomery, Wales      Grocer & Draper
Richard HOLMES  Brother  U  Male  39  Llanidloes, Montgomery, Wales      Carpenter
John HOLMES  Brother  M  Male   35      Llanidloes, Montgomery, Wales      Weigher & Storekeeper
Edward HOLMES      Brother  U      Male  33      Ponterwyd, Cardigan, Wales      Engine Fitter
Sarah Ann HOLMES  Sister  U      Female  24      Ponterwyd, Cardigan, Wales      Drapers Assistant
Eleanor SEVENOAKS      Sister  M      Female  33      Llanidloes, Montgomery, Wales
Annie Florence WALTERS  Niece  U  Female  8      Llanidloes, Montgomery, Wales      Scholar
Frank HOLMES      Nephew  U      Male  6  Dinas, Glamorgan, Wales      Scholar
E. C. C. RICH  Serv  U  Female  17  Llanidloes, Montgomery, Wales  Dom Serv

RG11/5302 f 121 p6

So I would guess that Eliza Emma Sevenoaks parents are X Sevenoaks and Eleanor Sevenoaks nee Holmes

Hope this is some help,

Emily

She is indeed Eliza Emma I think. The North Wales BMD website http://www.northwalesbmd.org.uk has the following birth details:

SEVENOAKS   Eliza Emma   Llanidloes Upper   Powys - Newtown reg. year 1869

Cork: Collins,
Herts/Beds:  Pope,Harwood
Essex:  Bryant, Pumfrey, Williams, Keyes,Totham, Citchen
Surrey/London: Shields, Woolf, Cooper, Quinton, Plumer
other: Cuskern,  Domazsewicz
Wales: Morgan, Mathews, Thomas (x2), Trew, Protheroe, Owen

Hi again,

I think your Morgan family will probably be rather more difficult to trace than the Sevenoaks as it's rather a common name in Wales (I also have Morgan ancestors there and didn't get very far with them yet).

On freeBMD http://freebmd.rootsweb.com there is a probable GRO ref. for Eliza and Williams marriage :

Marriages Mar 1892
Chorley    Charles    Cardiff    11a   354
CORNER    Laura     Cardiff    11a   354
MORGAN    William   Cardiff    vol. 11a   p.354
Sevenoaks    Eliza Emma   Cardiff    11a   354

You might find that it is worthwhile to order this wedding cert. from the GRO in order to confirm the names of Eliza and Williams fathers (and to make looking for William easier).

Whilst looking in the freeBMD I also came across this possible wedding for Eliza"s parents:
Marriages Dec 1868
HOLMES    Eleanor    Newtown    11b   384
HUMPHREYS    Elizabeth     Newtown    11b   384
JONES    Thomas         Newtown    11b   384
Sevenoaks    Edward     Newtown    11b   384

Newtown reg. district is apparently on the border of Montgomeryshire and Powys

Best regards,

Emily

Have you tried the IGI in looking for your Sevenoaks?

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

There is some user submitted info on the marriage ref. from above (which you would have to verify with certs I guess) but it would seem reasonable to explain Vernons middle names.

(I haven't copied it out here in case you were wanting to do some of the looking for people yourself but if you haven't used the IGI before you just need to put Edward Sevenoaks in and you'll find the entry I found. )

Best regards,
Emily
