Locke Family in Essex
« on: Monday 07 October 13 20:22 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for the any members of the locke family from Essex, the names I know are Florence Emily Locke (my nan) and her siblings were Kathleen (also known as May), George and Albert (known also as Tom).  Albert had 4 children, Kenneth, Wendy, Janice and Sheila. Kathleen married a Cyril V T Clarke and they had 3 boys, they were names Alistair, Paul and David. As far as I am aware they moved to Australia. My nan Florence married Frederick Martin, they had 3 children, Pauline, Peter (my dad) and Micheal.  Any family members I would be happy to hear from or from anybody that my have some information :)

Do you have any dates (rough) for theses births an marriages?
Do you have any locations in Essex?

A Florence E Locke was born in Braintree in 1921 and appears to marry a Frederick J Martin in 1945, the marriage was registered in Chelmsford.

Hello and welcome to RootsChat

I think we have to be careful here -as it is RootsChat policy to not post details of the living /possibly living  ..
The 4 Locke siblings you posted seem to have been born between 1914 and 1921 - so possibly could be living - but their descendants most probably will be - so it may be a good idea to remove their names
If anyone has more recent information you can exchange messages away from the public boards via the PM facility (you need to make another 2 posts to use this facility.

Do you need information going further back with this family -or are you interested in more recent events??

Hi, thank you for your replies, Mark yes that would be my nan and granddad, my nan was born in 1921 and passed away in 1961, my dad was only 9 years of age at the time, so we would like to find out about past and present, Albert was born in 1920, George 1916 and Kathleen 1914. we think their mums maiden name is brown(e) but not 100% sure on that.

It seems all of the children have middle names

Kathleen May 1914
Albert T 1920
Georger L 1916
Florence Emily 1921

Really you need your Nan's marriage cert which would give father's name and occ

On the children's birth reg all give mother's maiden name as Brown

There are too many Locke/Brown marriages to guess which one is correct
You can order certificates online from GRO
