Henley-on-Thames Reynolds-Wiglesworth
« on: Friday 11 October 13 14:57 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

am looking for the date of the marriage, believed to have been in early 1828, between Francis F. Reynolds of Guernsey and Julia Wiglesworth of Henley, and any further information that might be in the record.

 Many thanks,

Andy Smith, 3x Gt. Grandson of Francis.

The marriage did indeed take place on April 5 1828 - at St Mary, Henley, by licence.

The details given on the Oxfordshire FHS CD are:

Francis Freshfield Reynolds of St Peter Port, Guernsey & Julia Wiglesworth of this parish.

The witnesses were: James Brooks, Eliz. Wiglesworth, Ellen Wiglesworth, Ann Wiglesworth.

Unfortunately, it doesn't say whether they were single or widowed at the time, nor does it give any ages, but perhaps the licence would if you could get hold of a copy (best to try Oxfordshire Archives for that, I think).

However, it does say 'with the consent of Richard Reynolds the natural father.'

Hope that's of some help.

Jill

Jill,

many thanks for the reply- I am confident this was a first marriage, at least for Francis- and the witnesses are very useful. Richard was indeed Francis' father.

 Best regards, Andy
