William Blackwell b1780 Beaconsfield
« on: Monday 28 October 13 01:26 GMT (UK) »
I am wondering if anyone has come across a William Blackwell born in 1780 in Beaconsfield. In the census from 1841 I have him stating he was born here. He moved up north to Lancashire area in 1805 when he married Elizabeth Alderson. I have him on the census and marriage details, and all the details from when he was up here including gravestones etc but I am struggling to find any record of a baptism for him or christening record in Buckinghamshire. I went to the Records office in Aylesbury but didn't have much luck. Hope someone could shed some light on it :)

Thanks for your reply, I found that originally and cant find any others for that time. I had a message off an Ancestry member and she said she had found his parents to be John Blackwell and Eleanor Gregory, apparently John Blackwell was born in Watford in 1751. I cant seem to find anything about these two. Eleanor was apparently born in Swale Dale in Yorkshire in 1760.
I also found William Blackwell had a brother baptised in 1782 with father as John and Eleanor but cannot find anything else about him at all. Can anyone shed any light on any of these. I have been down to the records office in Aylesbury and it is really frustrating. I know there is some sort of link from the Crosse and Blackwell company but cannot find it.

To either eliminate or include William Blackwell from Bucks.  I would ask BucksFHS for a baptism search for him, in Buckinghamshire, from their databases.  The cost is nominal.
I would also allow a few years either side of 1780, and variations of Blackwell......ie. Blackall, Blackwall etc.

Also, where was his wife, Elizabeth from.  As she's shown not born in county, in the 1841 census.?

As I keep mentioning, IGI(Familysearch) is a very good site, but you never get all the details(if their are any more to have, which there usually are), from IGI results. e.g.  Fathers occupation, where from, etc. etc.

Also, if you assume there is a link to Crosse & Blackwell, Thomas Blackwell & Edmond Crosse purchased/took over the original company in or about 1830. When it was known as West & Wyatt.

Steve. :)
Ives, Stevens, Allen, Smith, King, Wooster, Elwood from Monks and Princes Risborough, Aylesbury, Wendover, Great Missenden, Bledlow, Horsenden, Saunderton, West Wycombe, High Wycombe, Lacey Green, Longwick, Illmer,  Hughenden, Prestwood, The Kimbles, Haslemere, Bradenham, Aston Clinton and more......!!  Plus a whole host of Oxfordshire areas.
Graham, Pimlott, Burgess from Cheshire and Lancashire area.

The burial doesnt match the William Blackwell I have, the one i have died in 1852 in Walton le Dale Preston, the other people match what I have been thinking though :)
