Hi, glenclare - yes that's the one.  Hi keyboard86,  No! - That John was born on the same day in Holywell in the same area! My John is the entry 3 above on the list. Very confusing!!!  Had a thought - he could have died just after birth? Will check the death records.

Just checked the death records - My John died 1903 - West Bromwich, 6B, 497 - BMD,  so mystery continues.

Thank you both for coming back so promptly,

Mike.

Hi Mike, the John Barlow that dies in 1903 West Bromwich looks to be the John Barlow aged 58 b Wales occ Holloware Saucepan Turner in 1901 with 2nd wife Elizabeth, in household  are stepchildren with surname Wright, he is easy to follow back if you leave West Bromwich as place of residence, following back to 1861/51 his parents are Thomas and Hannah in 1861 John is 18 b Wardhouse and 1851 born Holywell, is it me or have I seen another thread re Thomas and Hannah?

Thanks keyboard86,  I am not so sure! 1851 - Mother's name Hannah Barlow b Holzewell Flint. Wales.  1861 Father Thomas Barlow b Wrexham Wales.  I seem to be missing something here!!  These John's surely are not the same person.

I have ordered a birth cert. for the John B 1842 Wrexham (GRO), hopefully this should prove it one way or the other.

Mike.

What does his marriage certificate say about his father, who were the witnesses

I looked the other night on North Wales BMD,there are two births in what is given as the Malpas Sub-District.One is in 1841 and the other in 1842.

I'm a little confused as to the exact name of his spouse?I also came across a record of a marriage to an Annie Lawrence?

As far as his birth is concerned,I don't know why Wrexham or Malpas has even been mentioned in all this. After seeing the 1851 Census of John with mother Hannah in West Bromwich. It is the 1842 birth listed in the Jul/Aug/Sep quarter in the Holywell District of Flintshire you want.Any others your looking at are going up blind alleys.
