CANTERBURY - Hannah Lepine 1800s
« on: Tuesday 05 November 13 22:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi I am researching all the Lepine lines of the UK but am trying to find the origins of one Hannah Lepine.

She married Charles Austin in Canterbury on 28 June 1831, had four children and then emigrated to Australia. He died in 1846 and she remarried Robert Wilson Kemplay.

Her 1872 death certificate gives an age which means she was born c1813/14. She had children into the late 1850s so this sounds correct.

However I can't find a Kent baptism and her Australian death certificate names her parents as unknown Lapyne, publican, and Mary Lapyne. I therefore wonder if she was illegitimate.

If anyone has access to the 1831 marriage I would be really grateful for the information it gives, such as witnesses and so on.

And if anyone could see if there is a baptism for her that I can't find I would be most appreciative too.

Many thanks,
Jon

Thanks so much for this keyboard86.

I wonder if you could please tell me whether the two Charles Welby signatures appear to be the same person?

Thanks again for looking.

Kind regards,
Jon

Hi again, no the 2 signatures look to be different Charles Welby's in fact both the Welby and Lepine surnames were quite common in the Canterbury area looking at births/deaths.

Their  is an Anna Lepine baptised 10th June 1814 St Mary, Northgate Father James Mother Elizabeth, their are births of Daniels with same parents.
