It is a version of a German Iron Cross, but a Goolgle image search for "1914 Iron Cross" does not show anything similar.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

See http://www.solarnavigator.net/history/iron_cross.htm. All Iron Crosses have the same basic shape but there is nothing like the one you have.

Given the size, could it be part of a gravestone/memorial decoration?  As Stan says, it is the foliage at the back which doesn't appear to appear (as it were) in any images of variants of the Iron Cross.

Another site suggests various options, including grave marker - http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=186015
