Hi BillyF  :)

What else, if anything, do you have on John Fairgrieve? Was there an occupation given for him on the marriage entry https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XY9L-JJ8 Have you tried searching the early Post Office directories. I can see mainly one John Fairgrieve, a grocer, showing in these directories around that time but the address is not matching although these may be business addresses I can see...no idea at this stage really.

When do you think she was born? Have you managed to find her on the early censuses? I can see only one birth for a child to Andrew and Isabel, but much after their 1813 marriage https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X117-KQN

Did she live past 1855 and remain in Scotland?

This is the closest I can see in 1841 for a Mary Ballantyne b. Melrose 1827:

Lawrence Mclaren 20 Woolen H L W J b. Scotland
Janet Mclaren 20
Thomas Mclaren 1
Andrew Balantine 15
Margret Balantine 15
Mary Balantine 13
Agnes Balantine 10
Sarah Balantine 8

Address: Galashiels Langhaugh, Melrose, Rox.

Did Andrew and Isabel die young  :-\
