Hi there have been lots of threads here asking a similar question  - here are a few that may help you decide:

You may also be able to find a two week trial to FindMyPast that will enable you to see if it has information you might need. I have both, as I often find things on one that are not on the other. Another one to consider is The Genealogist.

I'm in a similar position myself; have been with Ancestry for years but would like to see what FindMyPast has to offer.

Get them both. It only works about at approx £4 a week. I can often find something in one that I can't find in the other.

I have both.  I particularly use FindMyPast for the address search and the facility to search for variants of christian and surname.  FindMyPast can also pick up some people Anc has mistranscribed

I agree with Mike that they are complementary and have different strengths

Does your local library have free access to Find my Past ... if so, you might be able to try it out there.

I have Ancestry at home, and use FindMyPast and National Newspaper Archive at the local library.

Over 95 percent of my searches have been for BMD or Census information and I don't think there is much to choose between FindMyPast and Anc.  However, The Genealogist, in my opinion, seems to get it right first time far more often than the other two. It's probably because their transcriptions are very accurate.
