I'm trying to find out where Edith Jane Baker was born, her birth year and who her father was.

She married Charles W Rumbold Parish Church Edenbridge, Kent 1909

I haven't yet ordered her marriage certificate - which would provide me with father's details. If anyone can help I'd be most grateful.

The bridegroom's full name on the marriage registration was Charles William Rumbold.

Is anything more known about the couple - children, life after marriage? If a death can be found it would give Edith's age.

How do you know she was born 1870s-1880s? It is definitely known that Charles was her first husband?

Possible death

Edith J Rumbold
Birth Date:   abt 1877
Date of Registration:   Mar 1956
Age at Death:   79
Surrey Northern
5g     600

The safest way would be to get the marriage certificate from the GRO, that way you wont be following the wrong family.

Edith Jane Baker died after giving birth to her (first) child on 2 Nov 1913 out in India. I do not have her death certificate. Charles William Rumbold was with the Royal Sussex Regiment and stationed out there at the time.

From his military record, I can see that the witnesses at the wedding were Charles Maple and Sarah Beecham.

I think the Edith Jane Baker born 1875 Sevenoaks is a strong lead. I always thought she was born later around mid 1880s. ANd may have been tracing the wrong Edith Jane Baker.

Are any of the marriage registers for Parish Church Edenbridge 1909 online I wonder?

Yes I had just found Charles' military records.

At least they do tell you that Edith was a spinster when she married him.

In 1911, Charles William Rumbold is listed on the census with his regiment. I couldn't find Edith Jane Rumbold and assumed she may have been in India at the time of the census (wrong assumption probably). I may have been looking for the wrong birth year and therefore missed her on the census.
