Julius August Wilhelm MOLDE from Neustadt Holstein b26/4/1853
« on: Saturday 23 November 13 07:59 GMT (UK) »
Hello to all,
Julius August Wlhelm MOLDE was my G.Grandfather, born 26/4/1853 (taken from Cemetery Headstone)
On his Memorial for Naturalisation (1895) in Australia, it states that he originated from Neustadt, Holstein, Germany and his father was Joachim Molde.
He married in Adelaide, South Australia  to Augusta Wilhelmine LECHER on 16/12/1879 at the age of 26 and she, 19.         So he arrived in Australia prior to 1879. I cannot find his arrival also.
Can anyone guide me in the direction of where to find his parents and arrival and any other info I can find?
Thankyou
Cheers,
Chrissiecruiser :)

Hi
This is all I could find. There are no birth or census records online unfortunately.

Thankyou Jamcat,

I have had much trouble researching in Germany, this is indeed my G Grandfather, and gives me at least the occupation of his father and mother's name.!!!! Terrific!

Isn't it great when you have been stuck and the slightest bit of info sends you on a high again???

The most help I have had on hard stuff has been through Rootschat.   ;D

Thanks again,

Chris

Hello again Jamcat,

This census is interesting in that this Joch Molde is an apprentice Tailor which was my Molde's occupation also. He is the correct age/birthplace and it is hard to go past it.

Why would it be in the Danish Family Search? Was Schleswig Holstein not far away?

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Chris

Schleswig-Holstein was Danish so that is why there are Danish Censuses.

Found this on The Trove. There are a lot of newspaper clippings on the Molde family.... deaths, births, marriages, probates, etc

Julius Molde, eldest son of Joachim, burg of Fehman. Could this be Fehmarn?

Hi Ian,

Yes this is my Julius, I have extensive facts and articles about the Molde Family here in Australia.

Two of his grandsons were champion Australian and English boxers, and there are many articles about them, however they were brutal to the females in their families, resulting in my cousin (found through Ancestry)changing her name and never wanting to know of them again.

My G.Grandmother, Augusta, Julius' wife died as a result of burns received from a house-hold accident in 1901, age 40. She was ironing with a cinders iron, from which cinders fell onto her clothes. The family story is that Julius was sitting nearby reading his paper and failed to help her in time.
                                                               :(
Unfortunately, many of the Family stories I have collected have been correct. This one we shall never know.

Thankyou for the info on Schleswig-Holstein....so what do I call myself, Danish, German or Prussian?

The other side comes from Prussia....Cottbus, on the emigration records and Brandenburg, Prussia, Germany in the Church Book Duplicates.

Bye,

Chris
