John Jones

Hi Everyone,

John Jones b. 1840 Carmarthenshire, I have traced the family from the 1871 Census RG10/5408 till the 1911 Census, I am having difficulty in finding earlier information concerning 1841/1861. On the 1881 census it show John as being born in Mychon, Carmarthen, no idea where Mychon is, any help or advice from anyone will be greatly appreciated.

There are appear to be other ways of spelling John's birth place in 1871 - Mydrim - and suspect this could be him in 1861 living at Mydrim, Carmarthenshire Edit the modern spelling seems to be Meidrim north of St Clears

This looks like the same family in 1851 although the ages of the parents are difficult to read Living at Mydrim and the father was an ag labourer clogmaker

Same family 1841 living in Mydrim. By 1871 Theophilus had remarried a Catherine and started another family

There is a baptism for Theophilus Jones at Meidrim on 22 Feb 1812 with father John Jones and mother Esther Howell

Marriage 10 June 1823 - Theophilus Jones and Mary Thomas in Llanwinio Parish Church

Burial 27 May 1864 Mary Jones of Llainybadd, Mydrim Parish aged 67, in Llanwinio Church.
