WWII Northern Ireland Ration Books
« on: Friday 13 December 13 02:46 GMT (UK) »
Good morning,
Can anyone understand the notations under "Postings" on the Ration Book Application form 1939.  I have a copy from PRONI which lists 5 family members including my Grandfather.  He was a marine engineer, recently returned from working in USA and was particularly difficult to pin down and I wonder if any of the notations against his name may give me some clues -- apart from natural curiousity.  For example :

GB/M 6/9/46(the last will be a date)
BTA    6/9/46
UCH   5/10/46
SLD    11/11/46
UCH   27/2/47

Others of interest are -
L(UCH)
G.B.R.  Sept 40
N.R.110
NHA
NXH   (or possibly WXN)

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be delighted to hear from them........Many thanks,
Halfkiwi

I think these are areas, u +ulster, if you look at a page from the 1939 registration book it will have an are where the registration was. UCA seems to be Shankhill/Woodvale area.

I'll be interested in anything you find out, as I have one of these forms too from PRONI. There is an article on wikipedia about the UK one but the NI ones are not quite the same.
