I'm seeking help in finding any record of a Jessey/Jessie Munro Scott Thomson/Thompson in Shrewsbury, Shropshire in & prior to 1833, please. The 1841 census states she was born in Scotland & her burial record states she was born in 1810.
===
October 04, 1833 - Liverpool Mercury - Liverpool, Merseyside, England
"On Thursday, the 26th ult. at St. Mary's Church, Shrewsbury, James, eldest son of James Crewe, Esq. solicitor, of this town (Liverpool) to Miss Jessey M. S. Thomson, of the former place." (Shrewsbury)
===
Whilst St Mary in Shrewsbury does come under the jurisdiction of Lichfield Diocese, it is a Peculiar, and the records are all in Shropshire. However, neither Lichfield or Shropshire has the Crewe-Thomson licence now.
===
The 1841 census shows Jessey was born in Scotland, but I have no record of her prior to her marriage in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
===
Jessey, James & children lived in Everton, Liverpool where he was an attorney, as was his father. Between 1836 -1843 James, Jessey & all of their children excepting my ancestor died "of Decline" according to Liverpool Necropolis records. That could have been cholera or tuberculosis of which there were epidemics at that time.

I live about 7 miles from the Necropolis and Prince Edwin Street...
do you know whether Jessey  had a brother in Liverpool  named Walter Scott Thomson ??
ADDED
OK ... Forget Walter ...just researched - not a family member

I know you have this and may have solved it all by now...I also have Thomson / Shropshire ties but from a different era not tied to yours...

Parents are down as James Crewe & Jessey Munro Scott. Might there have been a previous marriage to a Thomson?

Adding...ah, I see an interesting twist in the story...that her father was a Munroe...who left her with a Ward family...I imagine the name of the child Samuel Ward recognizes the man who raised her...and Samuel's wife was a great aunt of Jessie's husband James Crewe...?

You appear to have a great deal of threads on this same topic, I think you should link them together, or let people know where you are in your searches...
which by this last reply on that thread sounds resolved

Hello you people. I don't know how long this request has been up there but I know all about the early life of Jessey Munro Scott Thomson of Shrewsbury. In fact she figures in a talk I am giving for the Scottish Historical Society in Edinburgh at their 2025 conference.

Jessy was the illegitimate daughter of Sir Thomas Munro, and Jessy McQuorcadel of 423 Lawnmarket Edinburgh. Born 1809, she was taken away by agreement between both her parents to be fostered by Samuel Ward. I have the whole story of the embarrassment surrounding her birth. She had an annuity from Sir Thomas of £100 a year, was specifically catered for in his will and was, I think, well treated, although other historians disagree.

It is really lovely to hear your part of her story, some of which I didn't know.

Best wishes to all

Welcome to Rootschat, Shankara...
   I had posted above with a couple of links to other posts by denyse_aus  (there might be more on the same topic) one of which contains information on Samuel Ward, etc. Someone writing a book had posted similar info to yours already...Ashanakan...or was that you was well?
   I've let denyse_aus know by personal message that you posted something, in case she wants to reply this time.

Hi Shankara
Lovely to hear from you and I wish you well with your upcoming talk to the Scottish History Society. I am a direct descendant of Jessy Munro Scott Thomson/Crewe (living in Australia) and would be honoured if you would be willing to provide me with the information you are presenting to the Society on 29th of March. If the presentation is being live-streamed, you may be able to send me the link.
Best wishes
R.L.
