Hi Cliff and welcome

There is this possibility:

Harry Davey
Age 65
June Qtr 1942
Maidstone
Vol 2a Page 1559

Is that him?

That will provide relevant details to order the death certificate if you want to.

Regards
Jonathan

Dear Johnathan,

Thank you for your note and yes it does appear to be him, my one doubt is that I thought it was later in the year, however all the other information seems correct, and if there is no other Harry Davey from that time and place in 1942 then it must be him......
Again thank you I would appreciate any further information that you might have, as I have been totally unable to find any entry of his birth. The only other information that I do have is his occupation which was a Master Mariner and his fathers name was James Davey, Journalist.

Kindest Regards
Cliff

Hi Cliff

Do you have any idea where he was born or even lived as a child?  Names of siblings?  When/where he married?

Best wishes

Hi Cliff

There were a lot of Harry DAVEYs born in England about the same time as your father.  I did see this one in Maidstone but whether it is of any relevance I don't know  ???

1881

33 High St, Maidstone

James DAVEY head mar 40 tobacconist b.Camberwell
Louisa wife 35 b.Maidstone
Blanche dau 11 b.Maidstone
James son 8 b.Maidstone
Sylph dau 7 b.Maidstone
Harry son 5 b.Maidstone
Violet dau 4 b.Maidstone
Susan FRY servant unm 16 general servant b.

RG11/927 folio 60 page 17

If you think it may possibly be the correct family then some of the other census years can be posted as they appear to have remained at the same address for some years.

If you are unsure, it may be worthwhile searching for an obituary for your father to see if there is one and whether any family names are mentioned ???

The National Archives (Kew, London) Research Leaflet for tracing Merchant Navy Officer's Service Records' may be useful as to what information they hold and what can be found elsewhere:

Hi Cliff

You may be able to get some further information from the burials/cremation department for Maidstone:
