Hello there....
a small problem has arisen>
Let me explain>>>>>>>
Hugh Wallis nominates >
Devizes Parish Registers
BAPTISMS 1570-1909 MARRIAGES 1570-1890 BURIALS 1570-1889
BAPTISMS 1616-1648 1714-1837
BAPTISMS 1780-1808 BURIALS 1780-1814 which is St Mary records as found on fs.o;;;;;;;
Hugh Wallis then suggests>
Devizes, St John the Baptist
MARRIAGES 1559-1837
BAPTISMS 1842-1848 MARRIAGES 1888-1895
MARRIAGES 1559-1837
MARRIAGES 1559-1750 and finally >
Devizes, St Mary the Virgin
BAPTISMS 1733-1740 1852-1873 MARRIAGES 1759-1850
BAPTISMS 1780-1808 BURIALS 1780-1818
Another source [History of Parish Registers] suggests...
THE Blessed Virgin Mary records apparently start in 1559 but the microfilms do not cover this scope (1559 - 1730 and the St John Baptist start in 1559 which of the latter was
partially filmed by the mormons
Devizes, St Peter no details known
Volume XI Phillimores
has
Devizes St John the Baptist 1559 - 1837 but this is only the marriages.
Herein lies the problem> Where are the transcripts for burials and baptisms of St John the Baptist from 1559 to 1842 since it is apparent that the mormons did not microfilm them. Phillimore states in the opening text of 'marriages of St John the Baptist' that the entries for the baptisms and burials are intertwined with the marriages. However as much as the marriages are published by Phillimore
where are the transcripts for the rest?
The IGI or fs.o seems to cover St Mary Virgin but as things go the transcript interpretation is not wholly of the original,
so where is the transcript of the original done from either the films or the parish registers themselves.?
Lawd knows about St Peter Devizes and other secular records of the town so enlightenment is required for these as well.
So does anyone have a typed original copy of the St John p [or even St Mary Virgin] baptisms and burials from inception or do es anyone know where the Actual Parish registers for the church[es] are housed.....

PS have looked on the fs.o sources section at the cat numbers and other surrounding material for the 24 X 16mm films.....
thank you
