Ramsden/Crawshaw
« on: Friday 03 January 14 04:26 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I'm just trying to find out a bit more about my history. My grandmother was born in Colne, Lancashire, England in 1924, I believe. Her parents were Elizabeth (Crawshaw) and Sykes Ramsden. That's all I really know. I'm not even sure if she had any brothers or sisters. The family came to Canada in 1924 and settled in Hallonquist, SK. I would really love to know more about my family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alyssa.
A very warm welcome to Rootschat.

Just to start things off......
Sykes Ramsden and Elizabeth Crawshaw were married in Burnley in 1914.
It was a Registrar Attended Marriage and you can view the record for yourself on this free website
http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/
Click on the link and then marriages put the names in the boxes.
The same website also shows 2 births one in 1922 and one 1924.  I assume the 1924 one is your Grandmother.
I'm not going to put the names here in case they are still living but you can view them yourself on the birth index.

Pat.

The 2005 UK electoral rolls for Colne shows 4 Ramsden as sole occupants and 1 couple.

I cannot post details in the open forum but you can PM me for the information if required.
