Missing from 1901 Census
« on: Sunday 05 January 14 00:11 GMT (UK) »
Hello all, I have been on this one subject for about 2 weeks now and i've started banging my head on brick walls. So i've succumbed to post a request for either help or a pointed finger in the right direction. Here's the dilemma:

My Great Grandfather Thomas Thompson Hides.

Facts I have are:

Birth - 1872 in Knottingley, Yorkshire, England
Baptised - 1872 18 Feb at St Botolph's Church, Knottingley, Yorkshire, England
1881 Census - Aged 9, living at 179 Bentley's House in Knottingley, Yorkshire, England
1891 Census - Aged 19, living at 78 Banks Houses in Knottingley, Yorkshire, England
Married Emily Bayliss in 1908 at the age of 36 in Ecclesall Bierlow, Yorkshire West Riding
1911 Census - Aged 39, living at Bentley Street, Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, England
Death - 1958 in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England aged 86

Dilemma 1 = Where on Earth is he in the 1901 census, I cannot find him for the life of me.
Dilemma 2 = I cannot find no reference to locate where Bentley's House was  (is) in Knottingley.
Dilemma 3 = I cannot find no reference to locate where Banks Houses was  (is) in Knottingley.
Dilemma 4 = The Knottingley Family History website doesn't list "Hides" as someone that lived there.

I hope someone can help please,
Many thanks in advance,
Dean

Thank you very much for your reply and for the welcome.

From the immediate help I have recieved I am amazed I haven't been here sooner.

The online chat here is very helpful, aside your reply, they were able to decipher that that the name Patty was a Nickname for Martha in those days. The ages seem to tie up. I just overlooked it because Thomas's sister was actually called Martha. But on the 1901 census it's Patty.

Thank you so much for helping.
