Hello Suz and Margp,

You are correct with what you have posted.

Florence Stanley at this time is suffering from short term memory loss and has mislaid documents.  Hopefully when I see her I can get more  information from her.

The Stackhouse's information you have is correct and I will add here what I have learned through bits and pieces that have been found through various sources.  I realise that more is added here from my original posting :

Researching the Stackhouses’s – Thorn and Hudson Families

Trying to trace any information relating to the Thorn family, the Stackhouse family and the Hudson family.

Baptism c.1903/04 for an Edward Stackhouse, bn Liverpool 1903?
Trying to find the name of his father who died between 1902 and 1911. His mother was Mary Stackhouse, don't know her maiden name yet. And haven't found the family in 1901 so far.

Birth: STACKHOUSE, Edward
Registration district: West Derby
Year of registration: 1903; Dec qtr
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 257

Edward Stackhouse aged 21 father John Stackhouse married Hannah Latimer 22 father William Henry Latimer 3 August 1925 at St Mary Kirkdale.

1891 census 41a Purilot St Pendleton
Arthur Wilding 40 bn Herefordshire
Mary wife 25 born NEWCASTLE
Gertrude daur 6 bn NOTTINGHAM (Hyson Green)
George son 4 born NOTTINGHAM (Hyson Green)

Then Sept Q 1903 Liverpool Reg District Gertrude Wilding marries John Stackhouse

Sometime after marriage Gertrude Stackhouse is a cook at 60 Litherland Street married 8 years had 3 children all still living.

1911
I have Gertrude Stackhouse born 1887 Nottingham a married servant at 60 Tithebarn Street Liverpool to the Thorn family, there is a marriage 1942 Gertude Stackhouse to Herbert Thorn.

Forgot to say there's a Mabel Stackhouse mother's maiden name Wilding born in 1914.

From the Probate Index

Herbert Ambrose Thorn of 3 St Anthony's Road Blundellsands died 1 jan 1950 probate to Gertrude Thorn widow and Rosa Shone wife of Leonard Shone. Effects £41,125 0s 6d.

Gertrude Stackhouse was employed by Herbert Ambrose Thorn (born Herbert Ambrose Murrell in London. ) at his business Thorn's Cafe and Temperence Hotel, 60-62 Tithebarn St. Liverpool, as confirmed by the 1911 census (he also operated a number of smaller tea rooms in the area).

Herbert's first wife, Jane Douglas, died in 1938, and four years later he married Gertrude; at the time she was 57, he was 70. The probate record of Herbert's estate shows it was divided between his widow Gertrude Thorn and Rosa Shone, wife of Leonard Shone, but not in what proportion or why. Rosa and Leonard Shone were my grandparents - he was a plasterer and she was Herbert's second daughter who worked as a caterer at the family business for many years. She later managed it after her father retired. Herbert had three other living children when he died, but apparently none of them were remembered in his will.

I hope this can be posted for you without administration blocking.

David.

It looks like Mary Stackhouse who has sons George  and Edward in 1911 is not Edward's mother but his grandmother??
and Edward is the son of daughter Gertrude and John Stackhouse
Lancs BMD has the Gertride Wilding John Stackhouse marriage as "register office or registrar attended -so for further details you need to purchase marriage cert

1901 census
89 Christian St Liverpool Lancs
Arthur Wilding Head M 48 Milk Trader Hereford
Mary wife 35 Worcs NK
Gertie daughter 15 Nottingham
Percy son 13 Nottingham
Fred Thompson W 35 Milkman Manchester

this looks like Mary who is Mary Stackhouse in later census?

On Edward Stackhouse's marriage what occupation is given for father John and who are witnesses?

Second entry in post correct.

Florence May Burgess married William Stanley.  They had four children : William, Francis, Florence and John.

That all I know up to now.

Thanks Heather.

David.
