Wilkinson/Pearson brick wall
« on: Monday 06 January 14 10:06 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I wondered if anyone could help with this?
I seem to have hit a brick wall surrounding the marriage of my GG Grandparents.
I have the following details

Alfred Herbert Wilkinson was born 1868 Pimlico, London
In 1891 he was a Footman in Christchurch, Hampshire

Annie Teressa Pearson was born 1872 Paddington, London
In 1891 she was a scullery maid in Berkhampsted, Hertfordshire

Their son was born Alfred Arthur Herbert Wilkinson in 1895, Paddington, London
Their daughter was born Lottie Maria Elizabeth Wilkinson in 1898, West Kensington, London

In 1911 the family are in shepherds bush road hammersmith.

If anyone can find a reference to their marriage it would be much appreciated.

Can't see any record of a marriage.  Doesn't mean there wasn't one but have to consider the possibility they never actually had one  :)

1911 should say number of years married.

Welcome Becca :)

I can't see any sign of a marriage either - it's really not that uncommon in family history to find people living together as though married without actually formalising it. Very often in these cases the information given for the 1911 census suggests a marriage just long enough to render the eldest child legitimate.

From your mention of 1872 for Annie's birthdate it looks as though you don't have these details (she was actually born & baptised in 1871):

Birth: Annie Teressa Pearson, Sep qtr 1871 Kensington 1a 48 - see www.freebmd.org.uk.

Baptisms, All Saints Paddington on 21 July 1878:-

Annie Teressa Pearson b 16 Aug 1871
Arthur Thomas Pearson b 31 Jan 1874
Charlotte Eliza Pearson b 8 Jan 1876

all children of Thomas (a carpenter) and Ann Teressa, of 24 Stanley St.
