Thomas Richardson b.1871
« on: Friday 10 January 14 20:57 GMT (UK) »
Need help please.

My great great grandfather was born 1871/72 in Durham. Married Mary Ellen Martin and lived in Southampton.

1911 census shows Mary Ellen Martin being head of house with all 3 children but shows her as Married. Where was he? I've been told he was a ship steward but don't know where to start looking. Any one know where I could look?

I believe Thomas Richardson Lived till 1955 but do not know anything about his life or his parents. Been stuck for years.

Thanks all :-)

If he was a ships steward ,the chances are he would be at sea during the census - so he would not be recorded ...
mar qtr 1955  RICHARDSON    Thomas    84    Southampton    6b   811
so if he was 84 = born 1870/71

3Q 1899  Southampton    2c   93 so this is their marriage quarter and enough information for you to purchase their marriage cert which will give you both their fathers names as there are many Thomas Richardson's born between 1870-72 in Co Durham.............. if he was a ships steward he was likely away at sea
