Hi Tara,

I wanted to ask you a question after reading about the 'Guilds'.
My mum, many years ago, talked about someone in her family being an 'orange man'.
Now after reading about the Guilds do you think my 3x great grandfather Richard Livingston was in the orange order of the Guilds?
Like I said, I remember my mum talking about an 'orange man' in the family but all my memory of this is now very vague.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hi Peter

I have only heard that term with regard to a Northern Irish Protestant Organisation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_Order

Whereas your Richard's documents all say that he was RC.

Hi Tara,

The documents you and Evelyn found me are most certainly that of my Livingston's.
I think my mum's discussion regarding 'Orange man' must relate to the Guilds.
Whilst I was reading about the Guilds my thoughts of my mother came to mind.
Thanks Tara,
Peter.

Lastly Tara,

I've given RootsChat a mention on the WDYTYA Forum.
I'm delighted and can't thank you enough, so now I want more people to know about RootsChat.
After all, it was a member on WDYTYA who referred me to this website.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hi Peter,

I'm amazed that more people don't use the Irish part of this site.

There are lots of Irish genealogical forums out there but none that I can see that are as helpful as this one.

There are some great members here who help people out at the drop of a hat, and I've had some great help here myself.

So glad that you are pleased :)

Tara

Hi Tara,
Evelyn never asked me if she could help me out and find Irish Records for me.
After Evelyn found me these wonderful records Evelyn asked if I was upset because she didn't ask.
I said, 'No Evelyn, I'm delighted and can't thank you enough!'
I was more delighted to know the maiden surname of my 3X great grandmother Ann Livingston, which of course was Murphy.
I said also to Evelyn, 'it's a good job your not sat beside me because I'd of probably hugged to to death!' Lol. Finally, I never ever thought I'd be given a record of my 3X great grandparents marriage.
Tara, you can only imagin how I felt.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hi Tara,
In the summer I'm planning a trip to Chester where all the Macclesfield records are deposited.
I have found references on the New Family Search website,
which relate to my Livingston's school attendance etc.
If you want me to look anything up which might relate to your husbands ancestry please let me know and I'll gladly help.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Aw thanks Peter,

but I'm afraid that the two people whom went over never married or had children so there was never going to be much in the line of paperwork for them but I'm OK with that.

I do hope you have better luck though !

Tara
