Looking for an uncle
« on: Tuesday 14 January 14 21:43 GMT (UK) »
I have been tracing my family tree and I believe a relative died in Victoria Australia in 1995. The record I have found says his full name is Raymond Leonard Fraser, he was born in Hackney, London,England in 1920, his birth record doesn't give his full name but his father was Leonard Fraser so it kind of makes sense that his middle name is Leonard.
If anyone could find any info on marriages, children etc I would be very grateful as I'm limited to what I can find here in England.

Thank you in advance

Kerry

Hi
Everything you found is correct with the marriage and the other child. What I meant was that it only gave the initial "L" on his birth record so I was unsure of his middle name. I'm pretty certain it's Leonard though as that was his father's name. I cant find any marriage record for him in England so maybe he married in Australia. His mother was Dorothy Gladys smith but for some reason changed it to Colin-Smith. Her dads name was Colin
Leslie Melville smith.

Thank you
Kerry.

Hi

Have a copy of his death certificate, I believe they are very informative, and should give details of his wife and children, also I believe that there is a site called Trove that may have an obituary for him

The indexes only give an initial for middle names at that time, but if you get a copy of the birth certificate it would give you the full middle name, if that is important for you to confirm.

I don't know if there were two gents with the same name who died in 1995 but have found a death record in Aust for  Raymond Leonard Fraser in 1995. Obviously this isn't your relation as he was only 50 years old.
