William Read/Reed - Scots Guards 1891

Hi all,

A relative, William Read/Reed (1866-1922) is shown on the 1891 Census, aged 24 as a Sergt in the 2nd Battalion, Scots Guards. Census Ref: RG12/602/104/34. He joined up sometime between 1881 & 1891 and was definately out of the army by 1901, where also as in 1911, he is described as Keeper, Epping Forest.

Is there any way to find out more about his army career? I have tried to find out, but so far have turned up nothing!

He certainly was born in Merton, Surrey. Unfortunately, I cannot see the what I assume from the link name to be an image, it just shows me the registration page & I don't have an account.
