Who lived at 76, Southtown Rd, Great Yarmouth in 1944

Hello:

I am hope that some one can have a look at the electoral or rate books for Great Yarmouth and tell me who is living at the above address in 1944.

I have just received from a cousin a copy of a letter that was written to my great uncle when his son had died in the second world war and it was signed your cousin Mabel and we have no idea who this could be...  Another strange this is that the envelope was address to Mr. W. Redhead, and my uncles last name is Savage. So we are wondering if the lady made a mistake and put her last name instead of uncle Billys.

I'm sorry but electoral registers weren't compiled 1939-1946 because of the war.

As you are in Canada, it might be worth contacting the Norfolk record office, explain where you live and ask if they could check 1938 or 1947 for you.

If they can't help, I might be able to do the look-up next time I go to the British Library in London. I have to give them 48hrs notice as the registers are stored off-site.

Just to let you know I contacted the record office over the weekend and I got a reply back this morning say that a Mable A. Redhead lived at that address.  She is indeed a cousin to Uncle Billy as her mother and Uncle Billys dad were brother and sister.
