Hi, we are looking for Patrick Mcpherson,  who was arrested in Scotland and shipped to Massachusetts USA, where he changed his name to Patrick Fassett. My husband is a descendant.
We would like to know where he is from in Scotland, and his life there.
Thanks for any help,
Bobbi

According to several online trees it's fairly early (would have to be pre-1800s if "arrested in Scotland and shipped to Massachusetts.")

It will be difficult to find Scottish details even with more information and I suspect that more about Patrick's origins will likely come from U.S. sources- family and local histories, etc.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Patrick McPherson/ Fassett is one of my ancestors. From what records I have found he was deported in 1650 I believe. He was possibly a prisoner of Dunbar. He arrived in Massachusetts in 1651 if I remember correctly.

There is a Patrick McPherson who was deported on the "John and Sara" in 1651.
According to this site (very interesting reading!)
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01gbi/
he was one of many Scotsmen arrested after the Battle of Worcester.

Other Scotsmen were arrested after the Battle of Dunbar and deported on the "Unity" on 11th November 1650.

Thank you. I will print this up and read it. From what I have seen it is very interesting.  I am hoping to be able to actually locate Scottish family tree.
